In the last decade international trade as a part of economic activities or business activities, shows a fairly rapid development, in an era of increasing business attention on international business activities. domestic trade is controlled by international trade which makes this internal trade transform or turn into a global trade, where the whole world becomes a global market, in this case globalization means that the flow of capital, goods and services as well as people and technology spreads throughout the world, expansion world trade is a core element of globalization.
International trade as a result of globalization has increasingly become the center of world attention, the interests of achieving markets increasingly require extensive space from the territory of a country, mutually beneficial relations, become the main topic in international cooperation forums both bilateral and multilateral such as the WTO and APEC. the mapping of opportunities and challenges of international trade is carried out continuously as a fundamental strategy in dealing with the development of international trade, in order to achieve domestic economic triumph. noted that Indonesia has become the main stage of three international forums in 2013: WTO World Trade Organization, APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (01-08 October 2013, The UN High Level Panel of Eminent Persons HLPEP Post 2015 agenda development March. Indonesia itself began to commit itself to the WTO in 1994. With the issuance of Law No.7 of 1994 dated November 2, 1994 concerning the ratification of the Agreement Establising the World Trade Organization, Indonesia has officially become a member of the WTO and all agreements which is in it has legally become part of national legislation. As a member of the WTO, Indonesia certainly cannot avoid various trade liberalization agreements. Free trade in any arrangement, whether regional, bilateral or multilateral will provide many advantages for countries that have better competitiveness. It is only an instrument, not an end, not to mention ideology.
Indonesia through its membership in the WTO, is expected to encourage the order of international trade to be even better, so that it can also increase the economic added value of international trade bringing great benefits to the nation's economic growth and improving the welfare of its people. Facilitating the implementation, administration and operation, and sustainability of the objectives of various agreements, WTO agreements including Plurilateral agreements. As a forum for trade negotiations, Administering the operation of WTO dispute settlement regulations Dispute Settlement Understanding, Administering trade policy review mechanisms Trade Policy Review Mechanism, Working with the IMF International Monetary Fund and IBRD International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or also known as the World Bank in the realization of policies coherent global economy. Indonesia has an interest in continuing to actively encourage the WTO's commitment to continue the Doha talks. Indonesia is open to new ways to complete negotiations while continuing to prioritize the principle of single undertaking and prioritizing development for developing countries.
